Dr. Suzilawati Binti Mohamed Ariffin is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Head of Department at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She obtained her Ph.D. in Nursing from IIUM in 2023, following a Master of Nursing Science from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. With over a decade of academic experience since joining IIUM in 2010, Dr. Suzilawati has established herself as a dedicated educator and leader, particularly in the field of critical care nursing. Her teaching portfolio spans a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including advanced critical care practice, emergency and intensive care nursing, and research methodology, reflecting her commitment to nurturing future nursing professionals. 

Her research interests are centred on critical care nursing, nurse–patient communication in the intensive care unit, medication error prevention, and post-ICU patient care. She has led and collaborated on various funded research projects, including studies on hand hygiene among schoolchildren and communication dynamics with voiceless mechanically ventilated patients. Dr. Suzilawati has published widely in indexed journals such as JISED, Malaysian Journal of Medical Research, and Systematic Reviews in Pharmacy. Her scholarly work contributes to advancing evidence-based practice, patient safety, and innovative approaches to nursing education. She has also co-supervised Ph.D. candidates working on early warning systems and other critical care initiatives, further cementing her role as a mentor and researcher. In addition to her academic and research excellence, Dr. Suzilawati has actively contributed to the professional and wider community through conference presentations, book chapters, and community outreach programmes. 

She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Malaysian Nursing Association and the Canadian Nurses Association, and has received recognition for her innovative contributions to inclusive healthcare solutions. Her leadership experience, interdisciplinary collaborations, and strong publication record make her a valuable partner for research networks, academic collaborations, and capacity-building initiatives in critical care and nursing education.
