Expert Profile


Dr. Hadija Mohd is an Assistant Professor at the Department of History & Civilization, AHAS KIRKHS, IIUM. She is an interdisciplinary academic and trainer based in Malaysia with 18 years of cumulative experience across academia, training, consultancy and laboratory work. Her diverse background bridges the humanities and sciences.
 
Her research and teaching interests include (1) Malaysian social and public history, (2) Islamic history, (3) 20th-century nationalist movements in selected Islamic nations, (4) historical perspectives in management and entrepreneurship, (5) action-experiential learning (AxL), (6) academia-industry collaboration and (7) humanistic social sciences. 

Dr. Hadija has held academic positions at the International Islamic University Malaysia (Assistant Professor), City University Malaysia (Associate Professor), Asia School of Business (Senior Lecturer), and Management and Science University (Lecturer). Notably, she was a Visiting Scholar at the MIT in 2022 at the Sloan School of Management, where she contributed to the ASB–MIT Spring Immersion Program. Onsite in Boston, Massachusetts, she supported both academic and student affairs in subjects such as negotiation, entrepreneurship and system dynamics.
 
Originally trained in biomedical and molecular sciences, Dr. Hadija began her career in scientific laboratories and science education before transitioning into the humanities and social sciences; an interdisciplinary path that now defines her academic identity. Her current and most recent teaching and training portfolio include History (Islamic, Medieval, Modern, Public), Sustainability, Culture and General Management. 

Currently, while serving the IIUM, she also serves the Malaysian MoHE as a Fellow under the Pemikir Muda Negara Program (AKEPT–MoHE) and as a Tela’ah Fellow (MoHE). Beyond academia, she also co-chairs Akademi Tenggara, a social enterprise focusing on education, community service, upskilling, scholarship and publication. Dr. Hadija continues to contribute her expertise through her involvement as an Academic Think-Tank Fellow with the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI), where she supports initiatives on academia-industry collaboration, policy development as well as public discourse on culture, history, and social innovation. Her ongoing mission is to strengthen the bridge between intellectual inquiry, experiential learning and real-world impact in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
